Heads Up!
The Writer’s Astrological Almanac
By Kathy Watts
September 2019
(all times are PDT)
Here comes the Sun, sorta, for this September. There will be several aspects between the Sun and most of the planets, especially meaning outer planets. We also lose a major retrograde later in the month as Saturn goes stationary direct. What? You’re not ready for the ball to start rolling again? Saturn has a reputation for halting things, when actually it’s more like slowing down the break-neck pace that the inner planets favor. Keep your shoulders down and your hands up this month. You may want to remember to wear your sturdy gloves, too. (continue reading…)

Happy New Year! 2018 bites the dust. We can make 2019 as happy and productive a year as we please. The year starts on a Tuesday, the day of the week for Mars. Just yesterday Mars moved into its home sign Aries. Reach out and touch gold. Write the best and truest that we can write. This is Saturn and Capricorn season. Saturn will like a strong honest effort. (continue reading…)

November 8th-14th 2015
(all times are PST)
Sun Nov 08 the Moon is in Libra all day. Is this not a social weekend. In the morning, Venus changes signs, leaves Virgo and enters its diurnal home of Libra. Look forward to more fun doing what pleases you.
Mon Nov 09 the Moon is in Libra until entering Scorpio in the evening. Today is the day that the Sun reaches 16Sco and exits the Via Combusta. Heads Up in a good way. The Sun is still in Scorpio but a little more slack may begin to find its way into the world. It’s still appropriate to be serious about what you care about.
Tue Nov 10 the Moon is in Scorpio all day. If that’s not enough of a Heads Up all by itself, today is the day before the New Moon in Scorpio. Heads Up. Play it safe, and pour that intensity into your work.
Wed Nov 11 the Moon is in Scorpio all day. A very dark Moon conjoins Mercury in the very early morning. Your thoughts may be strongly opinionated. Go with it. Late morning, we have the New Moon at 19 Sco. Heads Up. It’s the day of the Kali Puja (or maybe it was yesterday, but the New Moon in Scorpio is special.). It’s also Veterans Day (or, perhaps you know it as Armistice Day). May there be peace on Earth, and may you find some of it in your work. (continue reading…)

Heads Up!
The Writer’s Astrological Almanac
August 22nd – 31st 2015
(all times PDT)
Sat Aug 22 the Moon is conjunct Saturn in Scorpio. Don’t let this bother you. Just deal with that one thing (or person) and don’t put it off. It’s also the last day of the year that the Sun gets to spend in its home sign of Leo. Tomorrow the world may seem cool, calmer, and less loud. (continue reading…)

August 7th-13th 2015
(all times PDT)
Fri Aug 07 the Moon is in Taurus when Mercury conjuncts Jupiter in Leo. Think big noble ideas, and for a while be totally committed to them. Twelve hours later Mercury changes signs, leaves Leo and enters its nocturnal home of Virgo. Your previous big noble thoughts will fade slowly but you can begin to edit and refine them now. At 10:40 pm the Moon enters the writer-friendly sign of Gemini. We have from now until 5:08 am Monday morning to blast out as much mercurial genius as we can. With Mercury now in Virgo, do it with a fine touch. (continue reading…)
Heads Up! The Astrological Almanac for June 1st-7th
by Kathy Watts on Jun.03, 2015, under Forecasts, Traditional Astrology
It’s June and summer is upon us! June 1 is a Monday with the Moon in Scorpio. We can be serious all month long about our work. And we can do it without locking ourselves away and getting out of touch with people. Writers need human contact every bit as much as the solitude to write. Don’t forget, the Sun is now in writer-friendly Gemini. And, don’t forget, Mercury is retrograde. Now that can make you more careful with your words. (continue reading…)
