Heads Up!
May 2015 (times are PDT)
The beautiful month of May starts on a Friday, the day of the week ruled by Venus. Make every day glorious and gracious, and get a ton of fantastic stuff written. Argue with that. Plus, Mercury has just entered its home sign of Gemini. Starting May 19, Mercury will be retrograde in Gemini. That can be good, and make us more careful and in less of a rush. One way or another, we have the whole month with Mercury helping us out from its home sign Gemini. Do good things with it.
Fri May 01 not only is the day of the week for Venus, but the Moon is in Libra all day. This is a double dose of Venus, so enjoy it. Write those lovely reconciliation scenes and sketch out those happy endings. Then go out and have some fun.
Sun May 03 the Moon is in Scorpio when Mercury opposes Saturn. Be serious with yourself and fix what’s broken. Later, we have the Full Moon at 13Sco. It’s the festival of Wesak, the birth of the Buddha. This can be a lunar month dedicated to what is most important for you –- are writing and being creative on the list?
Tue May 05 the Moon conjuncts Saturn in Sagittarius. Write with extra sincerity. Happy Cinco de Mayo.
Wed May 06 the Moon is in Sagittarius all day. That can be good for networking and publishing, and in general getting your work out into the world. The Sun trines Pluto. Both being in earth signs, you can work hard and get a lot done. We’re going to have month of Wednesdays mostly in mutable signs, so give other people their due. Maybe do some good character development, too.
Thu May 07 the Moon is in Capricorn when Venus changes signs, leaving Gemini and entering the sign of Cancer. Find a way to better integrate your work and your family life. It’s not always easy, is it?
Fri May 08 the Moon conjuncts Pluto in Capricorn. Let those nerves settle down and do some solid work. (Or, use those nerves to write some jittery scary stuff.)
Sat May 09 the Moon is in Capricorn when Mercury squares Neptune. Don’t argue with your dreams, but think the feelings through and work things out.
Sun May 10 the Moon in Aquarius makes a trine with Mercury. It may be easier to write and talk with a few more people. Happy Mother’s Day. (Thinking of the Earth as your mother works, too.)
Mon May 11 the Moon is in Aquarius when Mars changes signs, leaving Taurus and entering Gemini. Get busy and write.
Tue May 12 the Moon conjuncts Neptune in Pisces. Dreaming and writing go together, have you noticed (especially for poetry)?
Wed May 13 the Moon starts off in Pisces, making a sextile with the Sun and going void of course at 9:55 am. If it’s hard to keep focused, resort to having a to-do list. The Moon won’t enter Aries until 10:13 pm. It’s a day for slow steady progress.
Fri May 15 the Moon conjuncts Uranus in Aries. Watch for the silly and surprising, because even when writing fiction, it’s impossible to make some things up.
Sat May 16 the Moon is in Taurus when Venus trines Neptune.
It could be an emotional weekend. Write those scenes of romantic mischief. Heads Up. It’s also the day before the New Moon. Be safe out there. Heads Up!
Sun May 17 is the New Moon at 26Tau at 9:13 pm. This can be a lunar month of steady, solid, stubborn progress. The Moon then goes void of course. Heads Up. It’s also the day before Mercury begins its second retrograde period of the year. Heads Up! This year, all three of the Mercury retrogrades are in Air signs. Think about that for a bit but don’t get crazy over it. Do you know where your thumb drive is? Your phone, your car keys, your address book, oh you get the idea.
Mon 18 May the Moon enters Gemini at 2:27 am. We have from now until early Wednesday to indulge in as many mercurial pursuits as we can squeeze in. Write, converse, network, correspond, all of that, plus much more. Heads Up. But wait. Don’t get hyper. Mercury is stationary and turns retrograde at 6:49 pm. Heads Up. Mercury is at 13Gem so we have plenty of toned down Mercury energy working for us. Maybe edit. Edit a lot. Today in 1980, Mt. St. Helens erupted. Lest we forget, and all that.
Tue May 19 the Moon conjuncts Mercury retrograde, yes, in Gemini. Ignore all those ‘drink more coffee and live longer’ articles. Buckle in, and write.
Wed May 20 the Moon enters Cancer at 6:56 am. Though the day starts off with the Moon in a mutable sign, we get the bulk of the day with the Moon in a cardinal sign. Maybe start something new for a change. You can get emotional about it. It’s also the last day of the month that the Sun is in the sign Taurus the Bull. Heads Up. Tomorrow the world may perk up and pick up some speed. If you haven’t had enough of Mercury, well, we’re about to get a lot more. If you’re deep into coffee, consider decaf.
Thu May 21 the Moon is in Cancer when the Sun changes signs, leaves Taurus the Bull and moves into –- guess what -— Gemini! Heads Up. We have a solid month to express our truest and best writing spirit and ambition. Work hard and make it golden. In the afternoon, the Moon conjuncts Venus in Cancer, then goes void of course at 5:36 pm. Take some sweet Venus energy into the evening and be sociable. (No, you do not have to talk about your work, in fact, don’t.)
Fri May 22 the Moon is in Leo when the Sun makes an opposition to Saturn. Heads Up. Authorities can clash sometimes, and doesn’t that make for great plot complications!
Fri May 23 the Moon conjuncts Jupiter in Leo. Work on something big, and indulge in a little luxury, if only in the mind.
Wed May 27 the Moon is in Virgo when Mercury retrograde is conjunct Mars at 3:27 am. Maybe sleep through this, or have an agitated dream. Concentrate on improving something or finishing something that’s half-done. At 2:42 pm the Moon enters Libra, so the rest of the day may be smoother. Relax in the evening. You’ve earned it.
Thu May 28 the Moon makes a trine with Mercury retrograde. Do something agreeable and pleasing with this. Be happy with what you’ve already done. (That doesn’t mean you have to be completely satisfied and won’t make it better.)
Sat May 30 the Moon is in Scorpio when the Sun conjuncts Mercury retrograde. Heads Up. Keep a low profile; watch and listen more than you act out and talk. People will reveal all manner of stuff to you.
Sun May 31 the Moon is in Scorpio when the Sun squares Neptune. You don’t really want to dream all the time. Don’t debunk any dreams but stick more with the waking world today.
It’s a highly creative, busy, instructive, and entertaining month. You know how Gemini goes. Your social calendar can fill up and overflow, or you can plough through writing the first draft of that 80,000 word novel, or you can spend all your time and money in museums, at movies and concerts, and so it goes.
You get to decide, to a large extent. It’s such a people-oriented month that you want to leave a little wiggle room for people to have their say and input, too. But make sure you produce, that you create, that you express and let out some ideas of your own. Otherwise your head may burst from all the input. Pour it in, pour it out, and have a fantastic month! Heads up!
