Heads Up! The Writer’s September Astrological Almanac
by Kathy Watts on Sep.01, 2012, under Forecasts, Traditional Astrology
Welcome to the heart of Virgo, a time when we want softer voices, softer touches, and better attention to detail. Not that we get everything we want.
Still, we open up the month on Saturday (Saturn’s day) with the Moon in Pisces, making a trine to Venus and then going void of course in the afternoon. It’s a lot of touchy feeling, and it deserves some respect. Remember this all month long. An hour after the Venus trine, Mercury exactly opposes Neptune. Wild ungrounded schemes and ideas will have trouble defending themselves, but we can have a lot of fun talk. Later that night, the Moon moves into Aries. Feel more animated in the second half of the weekend (which I guess should include Monday, it being Labor Day in the US).
Sun Sep 02 the Moon conjuncts Uranus in Aries. Let your independent spirit shine, especially in small subtle ways.
Tue Sep 04 the Moon is in Taurus when Mercury trines Pluto. Be patient with yourself and persistent in your work. There’s no need to rush doing anything.
Wed Sep 05 the Moon is in Taurus all day. Work at a slow steady trudge and get a lot done, most of it in a darn near finished state. Mercury trines Mars very early in the morning. Two minutes later, the Moon opposes Mars and trines Mercury. No, this isn’t permission to be hyper. Have a list or otherwise be organized. It doesn’t matter how slow you go. We’re getting a month of Wednesdays with the Moon in fixed signs so keep that list handy and chip away at it, undistracted.
Thu Sep 06 Venus changes signs and moves into glamorous Leo.This has to be good for writing fashion, society, and even gossip columns. Or romances. You get the idea. That night, the Moon moves into the mercurial sign of Gemini. Write, write, write. Remember to stay organized and make the most of it from now till Sunday morning. It’s a good long stretch of time, even if it is over the weekend.
Sat Sep 08 the Moon conjuncts Jupiter in Gemini (occults it, really). Your words can be your good luck, so socialize with attention and with gracious care. Eleven hours later Mercury squares Jupiter. Remember to think ‘good’ and careful’ rather than ‘big.’
Mon Sep 10 the Moon is in cozy (and sometimes crazy) Cancer when the Sun conjuncts Mercury. Don’t expect a lot of logical thinking today. On the plus side, put some of those emotional hits into the appropriate fictional setting and you’ll write a zinger!
Wed Sep 12 the Moon conjuncts Venus in Leo. If you’re not writing something with glamourous content, at least wear something stunning at your desk, even if no one sees you.
Fri Sep 14 the Moon enters Virgo, preparing for tomorrow’s New Moon. Heads Up. Otherwise, it’s a pretty benign day. A little charm can go a long way. Have a pleasant and powerful weekend; just be careful.
Sat Sep 15 is the New Moon at 23Vir. Start something that you can work on in manageable bits. Maybe better still, restart some long abandoned but almost finished project and polish it to brilliance. Take the whole month. Feel good about it but brag only to intimate friends and writer buddies. Virgo likes modesty.
Sun Sep 16 the Moon conjuncts Mercury in Virgo (that it rules, by the way, and being in the very last degree of its homesign, Mercury should be very very strong). The Moon then goes void of course. About twelve hours later, Mercury moves on and enters the sign of Libra. The whole writer/editor confabulation may vaporize and your attention turn to society, networking, and maybe even entertaining. Invite a writer friend over for coffee, or say yes and go if you’re invited. You don’t have to linger all day.
Tue Sep 18 the Moon conjuncts Saturn (in the next to the last degree of Virgo). You can use this to regain some of that editing momentum, or make that one phone call, email, or text that requires extra consideration and respect. The Moon then goes void of course for four hours, finally entering Libra. The Moon may bring people or their interruptions to you. You can reply instantly, or, you know, let them leave a message.
Wed Sep 19 the Moon conjuncts Mars. In Scorpio (that traditional astrologers say is ruled by Mars). Is that enough fire in the belly for one day? Keep the tea (or coffee) hot and blast away.
Thu Sep 20 the Moon is in Sagittarius when Mercury opposes Uranus and an hour later squares Pluto. Concentrate on the Sagittarius part and don’t be perturbed or knocked off balance by any small short-lived disturbances.
Fri Sep 21 the Moon is in Sagittarius all day. Enjoy this, because it’s also the last day of the Sun in Virgo. Tomorrow the world be a bit brighter, maybe a bit more charming and friendly though not necessarily any kinder or nicer. Heads Up. Use this last day of Virgo to edit something important, correct some error or flaw, or make that one important phone call or email. You may want to start something tomorrow, too, so get those notes down, or at least collected up out of the ornamental goldfish bowl or wherever.
Sat Sep 22 the Moon is still in Sagittarius when the Sun enters Libra. The Sun is now a guest in the house of Venus. Good manners can get better results this month. Dress nicely and eat with the proper fork. (It’s amazing how this can impress people, isn’t it?) Two hours later, the Moon goes void of course until entering Capricorn two hours later. The Moon in Capricorn on a Saturday can be a lot of Saturn influence but it doesn’t have to clash with the new brighter Libra/Venus energy. Smile and have some safe, productive fun this weekend.
Sun Sep 23 the Moon conjuncts Pluto in Capricorn. You know, it might be a good day to spend with some older friends, maybe listen to an old story or two that deserve to be retold. Just a thought.
Wed Sep 26 the Moon is in Aquarius when Mercury trines Jupiter. Do something pleasant and fun with this. It can be big or conspicuous, if you need that. The Moon will be in cool collected big-thinking Aquarius almost all day, going void of course after an evening trine with Saturn. You can work on something expansive and popular without getting gushy. Only two hours later, the Moon will enter Pisces. Relax and dream deep after a somewhat flashy and productive day.
Thu Sep 27 the Moon conjuncts Neptune in Pisces. Wake up refreshed and full of inspiration.
Sat Sep 29 the Sun opposes Uranus in the very early morning. You may wake with little interest or tolerance for clever but vapid coolness. Six hours later, the Moon conjuncts Uranus in Aries. Independent speech and thought will be more attractive now, especially when it’s your own. An hour and half later is the Full Moon at 07Aries. Shine with your own true light all the coming month long, shine for yourself and for others. You don’t have to be abrasive about it, either. You’re being given a lot of energy with this Full Moon. Be daring, enthusiastic, and productive.
While September came in quietly, perhaps subdued and intimidated, it’s going out with a flash and a bang. Enjoy the quiet aspects and focus on your work, making it perfect, because you can make it perfect. Or at least, make it to your own precise satisfaction. You know what warms your heart and makes you smile. By the end of September, it should be able to make you absolutely grin and put a light in your eyes that no critic can dim. Have a high-powered, steady, gritty gorgeous month and don’t bother looking back. Look forward, to next month, next project, next year, the next word to leave your fingers and enter the world. Heads Up!
