Head’s Up October! By Kathy Watts

October 2009
Welcome to October!!It’s a challenging month, but also empowering. Put the final touches on some projects, and explore the skeletal beginnings of others. It may be a time for caution, but not of hesitation or doubt. We all have doubts, of course, but we don’t have to reveal them to the world. Nor does this mean suppression. It may simply mean tact, and Libra loves tact.
Have a splendid, pumpkin-grinning joyous autumn month of writing. Heads Up!
The month starts with Moon in Pisces. It may be a month of big feelings, perhaps a good time to write memoirs, but that doesn’t mean we should stop looking forward.
Fri Oct 02 the Moon opposes Mercury. Other people’s opinions may have merit; be open. Three hours later the Moon conjuncts Uranus retrograde. See all criticism in a positive light, no matter how it was intended. Five hours later the Moon opposes Saturn and goes void of course. Give yourself time before making those editorial changes.
Sat Oct 03 is the Full Moon at 11Ari. It’s the Harvest Moon. Give of yourself and put yourself more into your work. Great things may be come of it.
Sun Oct 04 the Moon is in Aries all day. Mercury sextiles Mars again, this time at 23Vir and 23Can. Whatever mischief Mars instigates, Mercury may help you to keep under control. Write scenes of domestic mayhem. It may be a month of big feelings, perhaps a good time to write memoirs, but that doesn’t mean we should stop looking forward.
Wed Oct 07 the Moon enters Gemini in the afternoon. This starts our two-and-a-half day personal writing festival, unless you need to relegate some of it to networking and communications with editors and agents. Late that night, Mercury conjuncts Saturn again. End the day by making a practical to-do list.
Thu Oct 08 the Moon is in Gemini all day. Do a lot of something good with it. Think big word count.
Fri Oct 09 the Moon is still in Gemini when Venus opposes Uranus retrograde. Not all new ideas are going to be elegant. The Moon moves into Cancer that evening, two hours before Mercury moves forward into Libra. This will definitely add some charm to the world and make everything look better.
Sat Oct 10 the Moon is in Cancer all day. The Sun squares Jupiter retrograde in the wee hours. Unsettled dreams may express your inner doubts. Mercury squares Pluto midday. It’s an excellent day to write scenes of irreconcilable arguments with characters picking fights that they can not win.
Sun Oct 11 the Moon conjuncts Mars in late Cancer, then enters the sign of Leo. Heads Up. This sounds treacherous (and it is) but it’s better than the Moon conjuncting Mars in early Cancer while the Moon is still out of bounds. It’s a good day to sit quietly at home and write grand concluding battle scenes.
Mon Oct 12 the Moon is in Leo when Mars sextiles Saturn. Some progress can be made on what used to be a stalemate. At night, Jupiter goes stationary direct. Luck can now conspicuously return to the world. We are down to only two retrograde planets. Feel ambitious in the best sense.
Tue Oct 13 the Moon is in Leo when Venus conjuncts Saturn. Older women may have answers. Dowager characters may have plot solutions.
Wed Oct 14 the Moon is in Virgo all day. Dealing with details is easy. Venus leaves Virgo and enters its homesign Libra. Some of those details may even be lovely. This may be a good day to submit your work, because next week comes a day when editors may read your work with more favorable eyes.
Fri Oct 16 the Moon conjuncts Saturn in Virgo. There’s extra energy and attention for small matters. Six hours later the Moon conjuncts Venus in Libra. It’s easier than usual to smile. An hour and a half later Mars leaves Cancer and enters Leo. Now even Mars is happier, but don’t get cocky. Afternoon, the Sun trines Neptune retrograde. Remember the bigger picture. There’s more to writing than just getting checks that don’t bounce. Night, the Moon conjuncts Mercury. It’s an opportunity to think clearly about something crucial. It’s also the day before the New Moon. Heads Ups.
Sat Oct 17 is the New Moon at 24Lib. Enjoy a social weekend, perhaps with some new acquaintances. Start something that has an element of finesse.
Tue Oct 20 the Moon is in Sagittarius when Mercury trines Jupiter. Be congenial and query about submissions made long ago (or not so long ago). They may not be languishing at the bottom of some slush pile.
Wed Oct 21 the Moon is in Sagittarius all day. Set your own agenda. This can also be the configuration of the self-publisher.
Thu Oct 22 ends in a big way when the Moon moves into Capricorn and five minutes later the Sun moves out of Libra and into Scorpio. Resolve to work hard and not make trouble for yourself. The Sun is now in the heart of the Via Combusta, the Fiery Road (from 16Lib to 15Sco). Tomorrow, be serious. Heads Up. I say a minor Heads Up for the next thirty days.
Fri Oct 23 the Moon conjuncts Pluto in Capricorn. Work at what you do best, if you know what that is. If you don’t, see if you can make any headway figuring it out.
Sat Oct 24 the Moon is still in Capricorn when Mercury trines Neptune retrograde. Meditate on the undercurrents and underpinnings of your work. What are the themes that matter to you? You may need to be in a social setting and see them in action. Hidden things can become magically obvious today.
Mon Oct 26 the Moon conjuncts Jupiter in Aquarius. Share your good luck with the people. They may not appreciate it, but it will still be good for you.
Tue Oct 27 the Moon conjuncts Neptune retrograde in Aquarius. Even the most trivial of stories has impact on everybody. Reflect on the universality and power of just being human.
Wed Oct 28 the Moon enters Pisces. The heart grows more tender. Think romance. Two hours later Mercury changes signs and enters Scorpio. Sometimes the harshest of people feel the most deeply. Think profound, even painful, romance. That night Mercury sextiles Pluto. Innocent ideas can generate the most sweeping changes. This is the stuff of life and of great plot lines. This is also the last day of Saturn in Virgo. Edit with a vengeance and feel massively justified and accomplished. Heads Up in a good way.
Thu Oct 29 the Moon is in Pisces when Saturn changes signs at last and enters Libra. Saturn has to be somewhere. Relationships may become challenging, and that’s always a good thing in fiction. That night, the Moon conjuncts Uranus retrograde, then goes void of course. Brainstorm with abandon but keep your notes to yourself.

Is it possible to do astrological charts for times prior to AD. Such as 2100BC.?
Also are astrological readings rhythmical do they over period of time 1000 years repeat themselves. Has any one compare significant dates that occurred in BC to dates that have occurred in AD. Especially, with regards to catastrophic earth events such as floods.
Just curious.

there are indeed ephmerides and we can do charts for times BCE. Is Solar Fire and/or Io or such commaon software doesn’t have an ephemeris that goes back that far, there must be some sites online, if only the US Naval Observatory.
Off the top of my head I can’t recall a specific study like the one you describe but it’s probably been done many times by many people. Do you do charts? If so, don’t be reluctant to draw up a list of events that interest you and see what you can find.
