Head’s Up! December Writers Astrological Forecast

December 2009
An intense year has come to an intense end. Absorb some of that power and draw on it in the year to come (not that next year lacks intensity). A Full Moon in Cancer is bright, high in the sky for many, many hours. Embrace your personality for what it is, for what and who you are. There is only one you, however flawed or perfect. There will never be another one. You’re it! Share your perspective with the world, throughout time and space. Write like you mean it, because if you don’t, well, what do you mean? Commit yourself to the cause that is yourself, and then get out of your own way.
Have a fantastic month, and a stunningly progressive and productive year to come! Start strong, and finish stronger. Heads Up!
The last month of the year starts off with some great gifts for writers.
Tuesday, Dec 01, the Moon enters Gemini and thirty minutes later Mercury sextiles Neptune. The mystic has a great outlet for expression. Share something profound. Midday, Uranus goes stationary direct. For a few days we will have all the planets direct, for better or worse. Move forward, however gently, on all fronts. Venus enters Sagittarius today. Beauty goes big-time. Lastly, we have the Full Moon at 10 Gemini. Bundle up, go out, and look. Be inspired.
Wed Dec 02 the Moon is in Gemini all day. Write your socks off.
Sat Dec 05 the Moon is in Leo when Mercury changes signs and moves into Capricorn. Even the most esoteric plans take a turn for the practical.
Sun Dec 06 the Moon conjuncts Mars in Leo. Refrain from shouting and overwriting. The biggest of ideas don’t always need the biggest delivery system.
Mon Dec 7 the Moon is void of course in Leo when Mercury conjuncts Pluto. Be open to some radical insight, but resist having some good insight undermined. That night the Moon is in Virgo when Mercury squares Saturn. Critical powers are at their peak. Make it constructive criticism.
Wed Dec 09 the Moon moves into Libra and conjuncts Saturn. Harmony and justice are among the most powerful of themes.
Thu Dec 10 the Moon is still in Libra when the Sun trines Mars. This is the stuff of high-energy interactions. You can construct the most byzantine of plots today. Also, this is the Sun-trine-Mars that immediately precedes the period of Mars retrograde that comes at the end of the month. Heads up in a good way. Mars is strong, grinding to a halt in Leo. Act, and write, with nobility and honor. And, Heads Up in a more cautionary way, because Mars and Jupiter are within four degrees of being in opposition. (Mars gets within three degrees of perfection, but then turns retrograde. We’ll see this opposition in full next year.) Remember the concept of noblesse oblige, and be gracious as well as dynamic.
Tue Dec 15 the Moon conjuncts Venus in Sagittarius. Something big and beautiful is right in front of you. Don’t be blinded, though. It’s also the day before the New Moon. Heads Up.
Wed Dec 16 is the New Moon at 24Sag. Take into your heart something generous and begin something that reveals a great lesson. You can write all about it later. The Moon then enters Capricorn and conjuncts Pluto. Idealism is put back in its place by pragmatism. This can be a good thing.
Thu Dec 17 the Moon conjuncts Mercury in Capricorn. Sharpen the craft elements of your work.
Sun Dec 20 the Moon is in Aquarius when Mars goes stationary retrograde at 19Leo. Heads Up. Be active, but be extra discriminating. It’s too easy to do the wrong thing too soon, with too much force. This retrograde lasts until next March. Till then, Heads Up.
Mon Dec 21 the Moon is in Aquarius when Jupiter conjuncts Neptune. The King and the Mystic see eye to eye. That doesn’t mean they will act wisely. Heads Up. This is a major aspect that affects the world for a long time. Don’t take it too personally. Three hours later the Moon conjuncts Neptune, and two minutes later conjuncts Jupiter. Now we can all take it personally. Heads Up. There’s a touch of king and mystic in each of us. Be as compassionate and wise as you can. That night the Sun changes signs and enters Capricorn. It’s the winter solstice. Do an ingress chart and get a peek at the prospects for the next three months. It’s also the shortest day of the year in the northern hemisphere, meaning it’s the longest night. Hope for clear skies. Stargazers, unite!
Wed Dec 23 the Moon conjuncts Uranus in Pisces. If inspiration or holiday spirits are low, listen to some favorite music. Sing something from Handel’s Messiah while in the shower.
Thu Dec 24 the Moon is in Aries when the Sun conjuncts Pluto. Heads up. Drive carefully and give people an extra wide berth. This is sometimes the most intense day of the year.
Fri Dec 25, Christmas Day, the Moon is still in Aries when Venus changes signs and enters Capricorn. Senseless acts of beauty can now become more sensible.
Sat Dec 26 the Moon is void of course in Aries when Mercury goes stationary retrograde at 21Cap. Heads Up. With Mercury and Mars retrograde together, it may be extra challenging to avoid mistakes of all kinds and scale. Take heart, though. Mercury’s retrograde is short, ending January 14.
Sun Dec 27 the Moon is in Taurus when Venus conjuncts Pluto in Capricorn. This can bring a crisis (or a revelation) of esthetic values. Some of us may dye our hair indigo, or cobalt. It’s so hard to decide.
Mon Dec 28 the Moon enters Gemini, where it will be through Wednesday afternoon. The year goes out in a flurry of reading, writing, networking, and communicating. Be gracious, polite. You may meet your new agent at the next party.
Wed Dec 30 the Moon is in Gemini until evening, when it moves into Cancer. I’m tempted to say Heads Up…it’s not too late to overeat or overdrink this holiday season. Keep yourself warm and cozy, enjoy home and workspace. Be good to yourself. Every writer deserves it. Writing is rough. All creative work is rough.
Thu Dec 31, New Years Eve, is the Full Moon at 10Can. This is the second full moon this month, a blue moon. It’s also a lunar eclipse.
