Heads Up!
An intense year comes to an end with the intense month of December. We begin on a high bright note, on Sunday, the Sun’ s day of the week. The Moon is void of course in Aquarius for most of it, until the Moon finally enters Sagittarius in the late evening. The day is also rich in powerful, intense aspects. The Moon conjuncts Saturn in Scorpio in the early hours. Four hours later, the Moon forms a soothing trine with Jupiter. Relax and be happy. In the afternoon, the Moon conjuncts Mercury. People may have lots to say. Three hours after that, the Moon makes a sextile to Mars. That should leave you with a bit of extra energy. Oh, and it’s the day before the New Moon. Careful, careful. Is this intense enough for you? Heads Up!
Mon Dec 02 is the New Moon at 10Sag. Look forward to doing big things this month. If you’re not in a position to do big things, you can still make big plans, or spend more time looking at the big picture.
Wed Dec 04 the Moon is in Capricorn all day. Work, work, work. We are being treated to a pure and simple month of Wednesdays with the Moon in the cardinal signs. The Moon conjuncts Pluto late in the afternoon. Be inwardly intense, but not crazed. Three and a half hours later, Mercury moves out of Scorpio and enters the sign of Sagittarius. Perspective may get bigger.
Thu Dec 05 the Moon opposes Jupiter retrograde in the predawn hours. Dreams may be sweet but frustrating. Afternoon, the Moon conjuncts Venus. Be good to people, including yourself. Evening, the Moon makes a trine to Mars. Wind down, plan tomorrow if you must, and get some rest.
Sat Dec 07 the Moon is in Aquarius all day, going void of course in the early morning after making a square to Saturn. Being sociable is easy, but making intimate connections maybe less so. In the afternoon, Mars leaves the sign of Virgo and enters the sign where it is in detriment (and possibly at it weakest and least comfortable), the sign of Libra. Think self-control and diplomacy that contains self-interest. Maybe it’s not such a terrible thing for Mars to be a bit uncomfortable. Work on that political thriller novel.
Sun Dec 9 the Moon enters Pisces in the early dark hours, making a conjunction to Neptune a couple of hours before dawn. It doesn’t get much dreamier than this. Don’t have a dream journal? Maybe start one.
Tue Dec 10 the Moon conjuncts Uranus in Aries. It’s a day to be contrary or at least mischievous. Work at least a little while on your own stuff.
Wed Dec 11 the Moon is in Aries all day. Let it light a fire inside you, then blaze through the day. You may crave to start something new. Deadlines permitting, why not?
Thu Dec 12 the Moon is in Taurus when Jupiter retrograde makes a trine with Saturn. Jupiter and Saturn in a happy aspect is not a thing to waste. Be the grateful student and the compassionate teacher. You can write with this.
Sat Dec 14 the Moon makes a trine with Venus then goes void of course in Taurus. It can be a pleasant weekend. Four hours later, the Moon enters the writerly sign of Gemini. From now till next Tuesday morning, we can make the most of all this Gemini energy. If you can’t steal time to write, be sociable and take notes.
Sun Dec 15 the Moon is in Gemini all day. Pay attention. We also get a Moon Mars trine in the morning to take with us through the whole day. Be active, social, and productive.
Mon Dec 16 the Moon is in Gemini all day. Turn up the music and write. It’s Beethoven’s birthday. Ode to Joy!
Tue Dec 17 we have the Full Moon at 25 Gem. Consider bundling up warm and going out to look at it. Take a friend, too, because on the East Coast of the US, it’ll be the middle of the night. This writerly full moon happens each December, and it’s a powerful jolt for us to take into the new year. After the Full Moon, the Moon goes void of course until it enters Cancer in the late morning. Settle in with a project you love, and a hot cup of tea. An hour before that, though, Uranus goes stationary direct. Things don’t have to get any crazier than they already are.
Wed Dec 18 the Moon conjuncts Jupiter retrograde in Cancer. Focus, focus, focus. And more hot tea.
Fri Dec 20 the Moon is in Leo all day. That can add glamour to an upcoming holiday weekend. (Skip the psychodrama, if you can, though.) The real news, however, is that it’s the last day of the month that the Sun spends in the sign of Sagittarius. It’s the day before the first day of winter. Tomorrow the world will feel radically cooler, slower, perhaps a bit darker and more serious. Don’t use this as an excuse to party more wildly, though. Heads Up.
Sat Dec 21 the Moon is still in Leo. The Sun changes signs, leaves Sagittarius and enters the sign of Capricorn. The first degree of Capricorn is the winter solstice, the shortest day and longest night in the northern hemisphere. For a peek at how the next three months may go for you, cast yourself an ingress chart. The first degree of Capricorn is still pretty much aligned with the galactic center. (This will be the case for the next several years.) More immediately, today Venus goes stationary retrograde. Outline those wacky relationship scenes in your romance novel. Heads Up.
Tue Dec 24 the Moon is in Virgo when Mercury changes signs again and moves into Capricorn. Be calm, cool, practical, and don’t flip out if you don’t have the time to do everything you think you must.
Wed Dec 25 the Moon is in Libra all day. Be the graceful pleasant person you want everybody else to be. It might be contagious. Shortly after midnight on the Left Coast, Mars makes an opposition to Uranus. This is a hot, heavy aspect, so be peaceful and sleep through it if you can. Heads Up. In the late afternoon the Moon opposes Uranus. Unconventional behavior could draw flack. Half an hour later, the Moon conjuncts Mars. Be energetic, wash those supper banquet dishes, and smile. Heads Up, and Merry Christmas.
Sat Dec 28 the Moon conjuncts Saturn in Scorpio. Slow down and prepare yourself to thoughtfully enter a new year. Let this attitude seep into your work.
Sun Dec 29 the Moon is in Sagittarius when Mercury makes a square to Uranus in the afternoon. Perhaps one of your characters could have an argument with himself. You don’t have to play it out in the real world. Heads Up. This month is going out with several days of Mercury, Mars, and Uranus playing big roles. That rates a general purpose Heads Up all on its own.
Mon Dec 30 the Moon is void of course in Sagittarius when Mars makes a square with Pluto. Rebellious feelings may surface and dissatisfaction may rise, but you don’t have to feed any of your less perfect work to the fireplace. Heads Up.
Tue Dec 31 the Moon is void of course in Sagittarius when Mercury conjuncts Pluto. Heads Up. Impulsive desires and knee-jerk reactions may briefly appear. This is in the early morning, so even if you sleep through it, it could flash through a dream. Three and half hours later, Mercury makes a square to Mars. This can add aggression to those earlier impulses (if you haven’t let them fade). This is all great plot complication material, is it not? Mercury (and to some extent Pluto), Mars, and Uranus are making a huge T-cross in the sky, occupying three of the four cardinal signs. The “empty” sign, to which the T-cross is pointing, is the sign of Cancer, bringing it all home, so to speak. It could be an explosive New Years Eve, but hopefully you’ll be able to have a dynamite time instead.
What a wild and crazy ride this year has been! If your word count has not been astronomical, you still don’t lack for stories to tell. What other occupation or profession is there for which the grist of daily life is darn near all the research a person needs? All you have to do is pay attention, remember, reflect, and then regurgitate (from your own personal point of view, of course).
Nobody else in all of time and space has your perspective, sees what you see, experiences what you experience, and interprets it all as you do. In a sense, it’s marginally criminal to not share your insights and concerns. If you haven’t written as much this year as you had intended, relax and just don’t stop. In some ways, the year really is a circle. Each day is the end of one year and the beginning of another. This calendar stuff is mere convention.
Live, love, and write! A new year beckons us all! Make it magnificent! You can! No one can stop you! Heads Up!!
