This Fourth of July, as the Oedespedotes, of North Korea, Mars, trudged over the binary eclipsing star, Algol, and atthe same time, the Scorpionic star, Antares was occulted, a two pronged attack was launched. The first was outright; the launching of seven ‘scud like’ ballistic missiles. The second was far more subtle. As of this writing, no government agency is pointing fingers, at least, not officially. Off the record, however, the word is that not only did the North Koreans brazenly defy the U. N. and launch their scuds, but they are said to have also conducted what social scientists are dubbing ‘the war of the future,’ a full out cyber attack on government computer networks in both South Korea and the United States.

“Although the National Intelligence Service did not identify whom they believed responsible, the South Korean news agency Yonhap reported that the spy agency had implicated North Korea or pro-North Korea groups…..

“In an attack linked with the one in South Korea, 14 major Web sites in the United States — including those of the White House, the State Department and the New York Stock Exchange — came under similar attacks, according to anti-cyberterrorism police officers in Seoul.

“This is not a simple attack by an individual hacker, but appears to be thoroughly planned and executed by a specific organization or on a state level,” the National Intelligence Service said in a statement, adding that it is cooperating with the American investigative authorities to investigate the attacks.

“The Associated Press reported Tuesday night that a widespread and unusually resilient computer attack that began July 4 knocked out the Web sites of several American government agencies, including some that are responsible for fighting cybercrime.

“The Treasury Department, Secret Service, Federal Trade Commission and Transportation Department Web sites were all down at varying points over the holiday weekend and into this week, The A.P. reported, citing officials inside and outside the American government. The fact that the government Web sites were still being affected after three days signaled an unusually lengthy and sophisticated attack, the news agency reported, citing anonymous American officials.”

North Korea seems to be very much on the offensive, and American computers, seem to be at least one of their targets. In the ‘know they enemy’ department, I thought it might be wise, to take a look at North Korea, a country like Israel, which has pretty much spent most of its almost 52 year existence at war.

According to Dr. Nicholas Campion’s excellent treatise, The World Book of Horoscopes, North Korea came into being on the 12th of September 1948. Campion gives a time of 12 noon. Lilly said that the first house represented the ship and its all its passengers. And what is a nation, but a vast vessel housing all who walk and ride upon the land between her shores? Since our celestial study is one of beginnings, the degree ascending can be likened to a baby’s first breath of air. And as such, in order that we better understand the mysterious workings of North Korea, the first thing we determine is what is rising.

It should be no surprise, that the deadly Scorpion at 28 degrees tropical rises in this nation which has sequestered itself from the rest of the world for over a half century. After all, the Scorpion is a creature that is reclusive and silent creature, who strikes at its prey, from the shadows. Lilly said that this sign represented vermin of all kinds.

Nations, like people, were said by the ancients to be made in the image of the heavens. The ancients of both east and west, judged nations not just by the zodiacal sign but also by the nature of the Nakshatra or lunar mansion that the ascending degree falls in.

At noon, on the day of North Korea’s inception, the 16th lunar mansion, known vicariously as, Al-zubana by Alberuni, Alcibene, Al Jubana, This mansion was said by Alberuni to consist of two brilliant stars, known by some as the ‘pincers’ and they stand in a place ‘where the claws of Scorpio might be’ yet he said that they belong to the constellation, Leo. The word ‘Zubana’ means to push. This is consistent with the Indian interpretation of the 16th lunar mansion or nakshatra, they call, Vishshakha.

According to James Kelleher’s excellent double volume on the Nakshatras, Path of Light (available from http://www.jameskelleher.com/storefront/category.php?ID=1 )
this mansion is represented by not one god, but two, Indra, the king of the Gods, and Agni, the God of Fire.

Obviously, when you combine the king of the gods with the king of fire, this makes for a heady or combustible combination. According to Kelleher, ” The power of Indra is the power of the Thunderbolt. This allows the Vikshakha people to express their ambition with great force. Sometimes this takes the form of vanquishing an opponent or competitor while in pursuit of personal success or glory” (Page 383 Path of Light Volume 1). This lunar mansion means to get what it wants.

Hart Defouw and Robert Svabota tell us that “Vishakha is the ‘conqueror, who is fixed on defeating rivals. ” Goal seems to be the main reasoning of this lunar mansion. But unfortunately, Defouw says, “when the only objective in life becomes the attainment of a goal, the individual may begin to believe that the desired end justifies the use of questionable means” (Light on Life, page 234 www.amazon.com/Light-Life-Hart-deFouw/dp/0140195076). Thus it is no surprise given the nature of this Nakshatra that this nation has been under the spell of one dictatorship since its very beginnings. Nor is it any surprise that North Korea has been in one way or another, a nation that has been at war almost since the day it was incepted.

Looking at the tropical degree of 28 Scorpio rising, we find the fixed star, Bungula, one of the brightest stars in the heavens. A first magnitude star placed in the right forefoot of the Centaur (not to be confused with Sagittarius) which according to Robson was said to give hard heartedness, an inclination to vengeance, a love of arms. It gives strong passions, and he adds, it may include one who dabbles with poisons.’ (robson page 37 ). ”

When we see these thirteen degrees and 20 minutes rising or on important points, be forewarned, ends can easily justify using any means means. Just looking at the degree and the lunar mansion representing the nation, given the Scorpionic nature, of this part of the heavens, dealing with such energies may involve a fight to the death. Just knowing the Ascending degree and the nature of Vikshakha, alone, it becomes easy to see why the tiny nation of North Korea, was able to hold off almost the entire world, fighting as it did United Nations Forces during the Korean War, which, by the way, the North Koreans did not stop fighting for more than fifty years.

The ancients said that the planet ruling the Ascending degree, along with the Moon will rule the people of the country. With Scorpio rising, Mars will rule the people. Mars is in its own sign of Scorpio, describes a very strong and able people, making them according to Ptolemy, “commanding, spirited, military, versatile, powerful, venturesome, noble, rash, unruly.” However, since they are placed in the 12th house, a falling or cadent house, known to astrologers as the place of ‘self undoing’ this will weaken the people considerably. Especially since the people are not only situated at this house which is one of confinement, they are also with the planet of material drain, the Dragon’s Tail. Also known as Ketu, or the South Node, this position brings want privation and hardship. It may bring spiritual insights, but it does not bring great wealth and material gain. The South Node is in many ways a very cloistered idiom, and so is the 12th house. Together, it is very fitting for a nation whose people have really been enslaved, and often starved by the martial whims of an absolute dictatorship, who seem bent on keeping their people in the dark about the world at large. It also well describes a nation that would choose the secret, and silent, cyber attack in its desire to strike out at the world at large.

Why now? Well, there seems to be an aggressive push that comes directly from the top. Notice that North Korea’s odespedotes (ruling planet)Mars, by secondary direction, is applying to the square of North Korea’s 10th house Sun. This is a power grab, by a country that is dominated by the ‘pincers.’ Perhaps Kim Jong II feels inferior, with Saturn by transit pressing down on him. We shall see in the next few months, what this will bring when the Saturn perfects on the Sun. Perhaps The Peoples Republic of China, will speak some sense into him, but that Mars and Saturn are pressing on him to make a mark on history.
